Mussels Technical Section
About Us
The Mussel Technical Session began as the Mussel Ad Hoc Committee under the Fisheries Technical Committee in 1990. To address the paucity of information on mussel biology to inform management concerns over commercial harvest of mussels, “natural” die-offs, and eventually impacts from the invasive zebra mussel.
It became a stand-alone committee in 2011 with a focus on uniform sampling methods, construction and spill impacts, and reporting on mussel studies.
Current Priorities
- Construction and spill impacts
