Wildlife Technical Section
About Us
Focus areas have included migratory bird management strategies, teaming up with wildlife, conservation provisions, and the Department of Agriculture’s Conservation Reserve Program in the Upper Mississippi River (UMR).
The committee also co-sponsored the UMR nongame and UMR wildlife strategies workshops. Current efforts focus on systemic forestry needs, quantification of the indirect impacts to wildlife associated with the continued operation, and maintenance of the navigation channel.

Ad Hoc Committees
Vegetation Ad Hoc
The Vegetation Ad Hoc Committee started in 1995 focusing on identifying sampling methods, research, response to water level drawdowns, and dredge material placement sites. The committee currently implements an annual aquatic sampling plan in up to two pools of the UMR to quantify if aquatic vegetation objectives are being met in UMR habitat projects. In 2016, terrestrial and bottomland forest vegetation were included. In 2016 the committee established a database for data storage and visualization.
